February Reflection #3 IEP Meeting

Updated: Feb 29, 2020

As a Regular Teacher with two Inclusion Classes. I am invited to many IEP meetings throughout the school year. This certain meeting was on a student in my 10th Grade World Literature Class. She is an exceptional student who works very hard. The Co-teacher and I provide very few accommodations. She has small group testing and extended time. She makes A's and B's in all her classes.

In this meeting we discussed her current grades, her transition plans and her current assessment scores. Mr. Yarbury/Special Education Co-Teacher conducted the meeting. The student nor the parents attended. Mr. Yarbury conducted a phone conference call so the parent could have input. Dr. Wilbanks was present and served as the Meeting LEA. The meeting was postiive to the point and addressed the student's current IEP, her progress, her goals for the remainder of the school year and her career aspirations.

The parent was pleased with the meeting and Mr. Yarbury instructed the parent that a copy of all documents would be mailed to them. In this meeting I spoke to the parent, I gave suggestions about taking the SAT/ACT next year and I praised the student.

As an educational leader the following standards correlated with this event. 1. Instructional Leadership, 2. School Climate, 4. Organizational Management, 7. Professionalism and 8. Communication and Community Relations

I signed the IEP attendance form and the meeting was ajourned.
